Our Houseplant of the Month for February is…
Dracaena is one of the most effective houseplants in air purification. It helps remove formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, which are common airborne chemicals in most homes. Dracaenas have long been a houseplant favourite for their ornamental value. Straight long leaves create a striking statement. The bushy young plants are perfect for table tops or desks. As they mature, they develop woody stems and grow substantially, adding a splash of colour and interesting texture to an indoor space.
They require less water than most indoor plants.
Keep them hydrated by misting the leaves with water and keeping the soil lightly misted (never soggy) make sure to include good drainage.
Allow the top soil to dry out before watering.
Do not over water as this may cause root rot.
Indoor light or a semi shaded spot is an ideal location, try not to place in direct sunlight, as leaves can scorch.
