Easy To Grow Houseplants

Looking for easy to grow houseplants in your home?  The good news is there are plenty of plants that require very little time or effort.

The key to success is choosing a plant that suits your home and lifestyle. Opt for low-maintenance plants that can cope without a lot of watering or much fuss.

A little bit of planning goes a long way. Think about the light, temperature and humidity levels in your home. Some plants prefer masses of light, while others prefer shade. Some plants thrive in humid environments, while others are happiest in cooler conditions.

The other key tip is to water your plants properly. One of the most common mistakes people make is overwatering. The best solution is to check the soil first – if the soil feels dry, it’s time to water.

To help you get growing, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite houseplants for beginners.
Sansevieria

Also known as snake plants, this tough cookie is very easy to grow and very hard to kill. It does well in both bright light and low light and will forgive you if you forget to water it occasionally. It helps that snake plants are succulents and store water in their leaves.

Peperomia

Peperomias are a group of small, easy-going houseplants with waxy and often highly textured leaves. They come from the Brazilian rainforest, so it’s not surprising that they prefer warm environments. For best results, place in a bright spot that gets plenty of indirect light.

Monstera Deliciosa

Extremely hardy and easy to care for, it’s no wonder that Monstera is one of the most popular houseplants. Also known as the Swiss Cheese Plant, this lush climbing evergreen thrives in medium indirect light. Just sit back and watch it grow!

Chlorophytum Comosum

Spider plants are a great choice for beginners because they don’t require a lot of water or direct sunlight. They can also tolerate a wide variety of temperatures and aren’t too picky about soil as long as they can drain properly.

Yucca

Yucca plants are a good option for busy people as they are easy to grow, tolerant of neglect and can be live for a long time. Unlike many houseplants, they can cope with bright sunshine so are a good plant for a sunny corner where little else will thrive.
