Best Plant Area in the UK!

Our plant area team celebrate a big win!

Barton Grange is toasting another success after winning the prestigious Ruxley Rose Award for the best plant area in the UK.

The Ruxley Rose is an annual competition run by The Garden Centre Association (GCA) focusing on outdoor plant displays. Entrants are judged on the quality, presentation and overall range of their plant areas. Staff are also assessed for their knowledge and customer care.

Tammy Woodhouse, chairman of the GCA, visited the Lancashire garden centre on 8th March 2022 to present the team with the sought-after prize.

Barton Grange plant area manager Will Clark, says: “This is a massive achievement. We are extremely proud and grateful for everyone who has helped us to achieve this award, from till staff joining us to deadhead and water the plants to everyone who has helped us sweep and tidy up at the end of each day. Thanks too to our display team for helping us win this amazing award.”

Entrants to the Ruxley Rose go through a rigorous year-long judging process. The GCA selected 20 centres who received top scores in the summer 2021 inspections to go forward to the autumn judging.

The competition aims to inspire GCA member garden centres to maintain the highest standards all year round. It rewards the centre that makes their outdoor plant area the most inviting and attractive to customers.

The GCA represents nearly 200 garden centres nationwide. Barton Grange last won the Ruxley Rose in 2011.
