Choosing the right size pot for your plant or tree will ensure that it has enough room to develop and take root. If plants are not repotted into a larger container, they will die back to fit the current container and not develop.
Typically, the pot should have a circumference that’s a couple of inches wider than the pot the plant is already in.
A good guide is to place your hands at either side of the plant to measure the additional space needed.
As well as finding the correct sized pot, it is important to ensure the pot has adequate drainage. Adding broken crocks to the bottom of the pot and then filling with soil will provide suitable drainage to regulate moisture.
