With more critters about these warmer months, provide them with a cosy little home. Bees and butterflies are an important sign of a healthy ecology. Either building or purchasing a home is just one way of encouraging them to stick around. Butterflies and bees need a warm place to rest, sheltered from the wind and rainy spells.
Also providing them with a drinking spot is helpful in the warmer conditions. Either a birdbath, pond or shallow dish filled with water. Please remember to add pebbles to your dish to provide a surface for them to drink upon.
For other wildlife, such as hedgehogs, frogs and beetles, place a log pile in a shady area to provide shelter. If you’re feeling extra creative you can build a critter hotel with bricks, terracotta pots, bamboo poles, pretty much anything that would provide shelter with little nooks and crannies.
