A giant pumpkin has landed at Barton Grange Brock and is on display outside the entrance to the new Cook Shop.

The giant pumpkin was grown by Simon McMinnis in his back garden at Poulton-le-Fylde near Blackpool.

Simon originally intended to enter it into the Brow Mere Pumpkin Competition near Tarleton, but it has a small hole at one side so was not allowed to compete. So he donated it to Barton Grange where it makes a very impressive contribution to the halloween display.

This amazing specimen weighs an incredible 675lbs – that’s over 48 stone. A team of nine family and friends were required to move it from Simon’s garden. At the peak of its growing season, the pumpkin put on 147lb (10.5 stone) in a week!

Simon has been growing pumpkins for most of his life but only this year started growing giants. Not bad at all, for a first attempt,
